When Oakleaf Heating was appointed to install a new heating system in a shared office space, it turned to Conex Bänninger’s >B< Press as the pipework jointing solution.

The office space, located in Kent, was developed by Dragon Coworking and caters for office workers looking for a flexible, hot-desking office space. The shared space is socially distanced and allows for workers to book desks from one day, up to an entire month.

Peter Harding, Managing Director of Oakleaf Heating, said: “When starting out on a job, cost of labour and speed of installation are important factors for us to consider. Using a press-fit solution as an alternative to brazing or solder makes our workload lighter and allows us to work quickly and efficiently.

“With the current COVID-19 restrictions, it was a priority for Dragon Coworking that their heating system was installed quickly so that they could make their space a COVID-19 secure and socially distanced area in line with the government guidelines.

“We were tasked with designing and installing a new heating circuit for the entire office, and specifying Conex Bänninger’s >B< Press fittings meant that we didn’t have to wheel gas bottles around the site for brazing. Using >B< Press means the risk of fire on-site is eliminated, meaning we did not have to wait for hot work permits, which resulted in being able to start the work straight away.”

Oakleaf Heating specified up to 300 >B< Press fittings to connect the pipework throughout the office space.

>B< Press has been engineered to allow for operating pressures up to 16 bar at temperatures of up to 110°C. >B< Press also has the added benefit of a 3-point press, with one press on each side of the bead and the third compressing the O-ring, giving installers peace of mind that they have provided a secure and leak-free joint.

Peter added: “I was introduced to Conex Bänninger and >B< Press two years ago, and have had a great experience so far. Our team have all completed their training and are now all certified >B< Press installers.

“Our team likes working with the >B< Press range and particularly enjoys that it speeds up our time spent working on a job. The fittings are simple and easy to use, which, means the joints can be completed with ease.

“The press fittings have helped us to stay ahead of our competitors, especially since >B< Press speeds up our lead time, which is attractive for customers looking to use our services.

“I have been working in the heating and plumbing industry for almost forty years and switching to press has been one of the best decisions. It’s truly second to none, it saves on time, money and labour. If I can switch to press, I believe anyone can take the step and leave brazing behind.”

Oakleaf Heating is based in Maidstone and focuses on HVAC installations for commercial, retail and local authority properties in and around Kent.
