Background

At the time of her construction, the Adelaide Hospital was South Australia’s largest hospital, with over 800 beds, accident and emergency department and a full range of healthcare and outpatient services.

Products

Work was carried out by plumbing firm, Watson Fitzgerald to install heating and chilled water. Conex Bänninger >B< Press Copper 12mm – 54mm plumbing fittings were used as they are suitable for heating and chilled water applications. Copper is ideal for healthcare establishments due to its proven antimicrobial properties and continuous ability to kill pathogenic microbes as well as its ability to resist corrosion and oxidisation.

The Conex Bänninger >B< Press flame-free installation ensures safer working conditions when works are taking place in occupied buildings operating 24 hours per day. It is also quick and easy to use, minimising time on site. It has a secure 3-point joint when pressed and its built-in unpressed joint indicator eliminates the need for a full pressure test as it has been deliberately designed to cause leaks at low pressures when not pressed.
