Background

Edinburgh University’s drinking water initiative was implemented to improve its environmental standing, save approximately £80,000 per year as well as reduce the risk of both manual handling injury and microbiological contamination. The project made sure that there was potable drinking water taps available in all buildings.

Products

Main contractor, Specific Health Limited used Conex Bänninger >B< Press Copper and Red Brass 12 – 54mm plumbing fittings, suitable for both cold and hot water applications. Copper is ideal for potable water fittings due to its proven antimicrobial properties and continuous ability to kill pathogenic microbes.

The Conex Bänninger >B< Press flame-free installation ensures safer working conditions when works are taking place in occupied buildings. It is also quick and easy to use, minimising time on site. It has a secure 3-point joint when pressed and its unique built-in leak identifier eliminates the need for a full pressure test as it has been deliberately designed to cause leaks at low pressures when not pressed.
