Background

The Hackesche Quartier was established to revitalize previously undeveloped areas located south of the S-Bahn urban railway line. The project aimed to create a modern urban space with buildings that harmoniously blend into the historical character of Hackescher Markt.

Products

The installation work was carried out by Winfried Frohberg, which successfully utilized the Conex Bänninger >B< Press system – featuring copper and red brass fittings.

According to the contractor, the installation technology was of paramount importance. The priority was to reduce lead times and minimize the complexity of on-site work. The choice of the >B< Press system was natural – connections can be completed in less than 5 seconds.

The >B< Press system also offers a higher level of safety compared to traditional jointing methods. Each press fitting is crimped at three points – before, on, and after the O-ring groove – ensuring a permanent and stable joint. A high-quality sealing element protects the installation, while the “unpressed = leaky” (0.1–6.0 bar) feature allows for the immediate detection of unpressed connections during a leak test.

The patented O-ring profile causes a controlled leak before pressing, and during the pressing process – through material displacement – it ensures a full and permanent seal.
