Project background

<A> Press Inox 304 fittings were used to connect a woodchip heating system to a production hall. The hall, where bespoke wooden houses are manufactured, is heated using innovative concrete core activation technology.

Project description

Zimmerei Fischer GmbH, a manufacturer of bespoke wooden houses, expanded its production area by 3,000 m² with the construction of a new production hall. Demand for the natural building material wood continues to grow. Wooden houses are associated with comfort, well-being and are a symbol of environmentally conscious construction. The new production hall is used to manufacture timber-frame houses as well as wall and façade elements tailored to individual customer requirements.

To heat the production hall, a woodchip boiler system was installed together with two buffer tanks, each with a capacity of 2,500 litres. Concrete core activation, an innovative technology increasingly used in modern architecture, is utilised to heat the new building.

Conex Bänninger experts supported the project even before construction began, assisting with pipe dimension calculations and determining material requirements. Their support also included on-site consultations, installation guidance and the provision of tools.

Jochen Pfeiffer, Regional Sales Manager (at the time Project Manager) at Conex Bänninger, is particularly proud to support such projects:
“Heating such a large area involves high technical demands. Our <A> Press Inox 304 system was specifically developed for heating installations and, thanks to its high corrosion resistance, provides an optimal solution for this type of project. I am especially pleased that in this case we were able to support the investor not only with our fittings, but also with our know-how.”

The installation work was carried out by the local company Haustechnik Gürtler. <A> Press Inox 304 fittings with diameters of up to 76 mm were used throughout the system, from the boiler room and buffer tanks to the concrete core activation distributors. The fittings used included elbows, tees, couplings and threaded transitions.

<A> Press Inox 304 fittings are made of stainless steel grade 1.4301 and have been specially developed for heating installations. Thanks to their EPDM sealing ring, these corrosion-resistant fittings are suitable for operating temperatures of up to 110°C. Like all Conex Bänninger press fittings, <A> Press Inox 304 features the PI system (“unpressed = leaking”), allowing easy detection of unpressed joints during pressure testing.
