Background

Nevio Scala Winery in Lozzo Atestino is a place where biodiversity plays a key role in maintaining agronomic balance. At the heart of the winery is the cellar, created through the careful renovation of an old stable and barn once belonging to the Albrizzi counts. Both buildings are listed in the Napoleonic land register, meaning they date back to before 1816.

Materials selected for the renovation were aligned with the company’s sustainability philosophy. A significant quantity of trachyte stone slabs (a type of volcanic rock) was recovered and reused to create walkways. In addition to grape processing areas and maturation tanks, the building also houses a fruit drying room and a cellar with oak barrels. A tasting room is also available, intended for cultural activities and for promoting the region.

It was in this newly renovated cellar that Impianti Termoidraulici Finco Fausto installed a Mitsubishi Electric VRF cooling system consisting of two outdoor units (80 kW total capacity) and 20 indoor units. The installation used >B< MaxiPro fittings, a patented press-fit system for air conditioning and refrigeration installations, designed to operate at pressures of up to 48 bar.

Fast and safe installation

The installer routed 400 metres of sheathed copper pipe in accordance with EN 12735-1 inside wooden partition walls, suspended ceilings, insulated walls and plasterboard structures, using more than 100 fittings.

A recommendation from the local distributor, Idroven srl (represented by agent Enrico Vendraminelli), convinced the installer to choose the >B< MaxiPro press-fit system. The decision was driven by technical and practical considerations, safety aspects, and the 10-year warranty provided by Conex Bänninger.

The >B< MaxiPro pressing technique is very straightforward: the pipe is cut to length, deburred, the fitting is inserted, and the joint is pressed.

“Thanks to >B< MaxiPro, I was able to work completely safely and extremely quickly, both in confined spaces and at height,” says Finco Fausto. “I didn’t have to interrupt work. We were not required to follow special fire protection measures around flammable elements, nor wait for cooling as is typical with brazed joints. The product provided maximum reliability and safety both during installation and in the final execution.”

>B< MaxiPro – multiple benefits and maximum reliability

The main advantages of press-fit technology are ease of use, installation speed and joint safety. The estimated installation time for the entire VRF system was reduced by 60% compared to traditional brazing methods, resulting in significant time and cost savings. Including commissioning time, a full week of work was saved.

>B< MaxiPro is a modern, innovative and unique solution in the air conditioning and refrigeration industry, offering proven reliability and backed by a 10-year warranty from Conex Bänninger.
